Current & scheduled projects

The following is a map and list of major San Antonio area freeway and TransGuide projects currently underway or with scheduled start dates in the next year or so.  These are capacity improvement or new-construction projects; maintenance and repair projects are not included.  The descriptions given are from TxDOT or ARMA sources or media reports.  The numbers and letters on the map correspond to the listings on the table below.  Letting, start, and completion dates are from various sources and represent the latest estimated date that I know of.  TxDOT's and ARMA's project schedules are in a state of constant flux, so all dates shown here, especially for scheduled and proposed projects, are subject to change.

Proposed projects

This is a list of major medium-range (10-20 years) and long-range (20+ years out) projects that I have seen proposed by TxDOT or the Metropolitan Planning Organization.  As they are just preliminary proposals, items on this list may not actually be constructed as described or at all.  Some of the projects listed below are combined and may be broken-up into smaller projects for construction.
