There's actually not an overpass for Ramsgate, but there are two turnaround bridges. 
They did leave room between the bridges for a possible future Ramsgate overpass.

Now we're on the initial approach to the double-deck split.  The roadway here was already 10 lanes wide.

The signs designate which level traffic should use for local exits.

At the upper/lower level split
Technically, both the upper and lower levels are I-10, but I-35 is signed here to move
traffic into the best lanes for the interchange at the other end of the double-deck.

From here, we'll take the lower level.  Once we've reached the other end, we'll come back and go topside!

This was the northern end of the first section of freeway built in San Antonio.

This is the original pedestrian bridge built when the freeway was first built.

This is the exit for downtown from the lower level. 
The freeway makes a slight turn here as the upper/lower levels start to converge.

UPPER LEVEL

Over Woodlawn Ave.

Initial warning for the "Downtown Y" interchange.  The freeway starts its turn toward downtown here.

Continuing our turn, we catch our first glimpse of downtown.

Travel times for both directions along I-35 are shown on the DMS.

At Santa Rosa exit, approaching upper/lower level convergence
This is the downtown exit from the upper level.  From here, it's down to meet the lower level.

Double-deck/"Downtown Y" Interchange transition area
This is the chute into the interchange.  Traffic continuing on I-10 or going to I-35 southbound stays right.

We're headed up to the interchange now.  Traffic for I-35 northbound stays left.

We'll stay on I-10 for a moment until it merges with I-35, then come back and take the I-35 northbound exit.

I-10 and I-35 run together for a 3 mile stretch along the west edge of downtown.

I-35 NORTHBOUND EXIT

Start of ramp to I-35 northbound
Notice the extra high barriers.  These were built to keep big trucks from careening off into a high school sports field below.
