Workers here are converting a wide drainage ditch in the freeway's median to an underground
tunnel to make room to widen I-10 to ten lanes.

Note the access road on the left.  This is actually a bypass road.  Traffic wishing to enter I-10 or continue
south to Callaghan passes under Medical, while traffic wanting to go to Medical travels up the ramp at the far left. 
A similar arrangement is also on the right, but the bypass road is on the outside of the interchange.
